Artist of the Month: Darius Talras
In the following four weeks (February 2, 9, 16, 23) Darius plans to release two (2) pieces of music each week exclusively to Jamworld876.net. Darius Talras has a long history with the website as they have been collaborating on musical various projects for many years. The days the songs/mixes will be released are Sundays and Tuesdays. Darius Talras , born Dominic Davis, came into this world on the 4th day of December,1988. He was born in Manchester, Jamaica. Darius’ musical journey began at boarding school when in his spare time he would freestyle lyrics off the top of his head with childhood friend and future collaborator, Neil Mullings (Mullo) to the delight of their classmates and peers. Darius was initially encouraged by friends to try his hand at this craft, but he was apprehensive his family would not approve of such a choice at that time so he decided to put his rapping plans on hold until he could do it freely and on his own terms.
In approximately his 4th year at Munro College, he, Mikhali Boyd (Raka) Mullo came together to form the sound system, Zero Tolerance Sound and he took on the stage name “Dj Dar.” Zero Tolerance Sound played at various events throughout their time as a group,from birthday parties to stageshows, some of the most established of those being Fully Loaded, Manchester Fiesta, and Reaction the premium car show.
After graduating from sixth form at Munro College, Darius then moved onto university where he started to get back into the flow of writing and performing his material. Fast forward a few years, he is currently an independent artiste and mixes and masters a high percentage of his own songs. He also designs all the promotional content for his websites, social media networks, and for print. His style of music is a blend of melodious,conscious rap and r&b with a reggae background. To date, Darius has released one (1) mixtape, titled “More Than An Entree Re-Mixtape.” It showcased his lyrical potency and ability to easily crossover and blend with other premier musicians in the Hip-Hop and R&B world. The mixtape was featured on various entertainment websites and blogs around the world, including high profile sites such as Jamworld876.net and Jahkno.com. He has also released two (2) songs from his upcoming, highly anticipated EP. Those singles have been “Chasing” and “Time.”
