CEMI IS MAKING WINTER WAVES

The music industry is one that requires patience and guts. A whole lot of self belief and hard work. Well there is a new label and outfit in town and they are here to shake up the music industry. Especially the Reggae & Dancehall scene here in Jamaica and the rest of the world. CEMI is a new label with an interest that strictly focuses on the culture and the growth of the culture.

The owner and founder Lorraine Ferguson is enthusiastic about the start and future of CEMI. She left her corporate nine to five to tackle the lack of infrastructure faced with her fellow Jamaican musicians and artists. She highlighted one of the best ways to assist is to actually be in the trenches and try to make a difference. The company was created as an entertainment company that would look to assist the artist in growth and getting his/ her brand planted and established while focusing on building a career.

C.E.M.I. motto is “nurturing and enabling talent through music and raising champions”. With a range of talented acts from singers to sing jay and raw Dancehall artist she seems to have a solid roster where she can raise champions (take note of the motto). She made it clear they are in early stages of her five year plan and where she wants to go with the label and brand. The company’s latest project is out now for the festive season and she’s proud of her line up of acts that are each releasing their singles under the banner.
Enzo Kingston Bwoy – “Bad Like Me”
J.Savage – “Complicated”
Real V.I. – “Everything Right”
Untamed 1- “Dont Know”
Ras Pandam – Merciful
Seanresy – “Fly Away”
All these are a part of the singles the company has released for the Christmas season and again it’s early days but they are doing fairly well. The plan is to work with a core set of acts that are committed to their craft and the future. CEMI is the midst of planning shows and tours for the upcoming 2021 season and is looking to have her acts showcased on a global scale.
“Each artist brings a different taste and pallet to the team, whether they are signed or not. The productions become key and the future of the productions are key if you’re not a part of the CEMI family.” Quoted fro Lorraine about the actual acts who belong to the company.
