Third World performed at New Morning in Paris, France on Saturday, June 8th, 2019

On Saturday night, Third World performed at New Morning in Paris. The venue was packed to welcome warmly the Reggae Ambassadors.Even though it wasn’t the first time they performed at New Morning, we doubted the stage might be too small for them in comparison to the main stage of the Rototom Sunsplash, where we had seen them in 2013 for the last time.

It was quite a spectacular show, as they are used to pull off. One of the most entertaining section of the show was when Tony “Ruption” Williams left his drum set to come forward, and play furious rhythms on djembé.During that “Jamaican Talent Show” section, Stephen “Cat” Coore played some cello. When he played the classic “Redemption Song,” Cat seemed to be very moved when the entire crowd sung along together as one. Then AJ Brown also showed off his vocal skills by covering “Con Te Partiro,” made famous by Andrea Boticelli. Once again, the crowd sung along.

The Reggae purists wouldn’t have enjoyed the show so much. However, knowing how versatile Third World is, it was predictable that it would have been pop-oriented. Nevertheless, we noted that they have also performed some roots-oriented tracks. It really amazing when they performed “Jah Glory,” “Satta Massagana,” and, of course, their hit song “96 Degrees,”.

People asked for more after they left the stage. So they came back to perform one last song. Before the show, we had the opportunity to interview Stephen “Cat” Coore & AJ Brown. So watch out for the upcoming interview, and watch the pictures we took on our Facebook page.
