Capleton Live in Paris November 2016

Capleton aka the King of Fire set the stage on fire last Monday in Paris

Capleton aka The King of Fire blessed us with his presence in Paris, once again, last Monday. He was accompanied by The Prophecy band.

It was the very first time that I saw Capleton live and I surely didn’t regret it. He’s well known for his outstanding performances and I can assure those who have never seen him on stage before that this is no lie.

The concert was held at La Cigale, near the famous Place Pigalle and the Moulin Rouge in Paris, France. The place was packed, there was just enough space for us to jump and wave our arms. I guess that was the least one could expect when seeing an internationally renown Reggae/Dancehall artist such as Capleton.

You can’t out his flame

Capleton and The Prophecy band really set the stage on fire last Monday. No wonder why he’s called the King of Fire. From the moment Capleton entered the stage until the very last second of the show, the quality of his performance had not wavered one bit. He got the whole crowd moving and singing as one.

He started the show with the deep and consciously-aware tracks “Suffering” and “Mashing Up the World”. Then, he performed some of his most popular tunes. The crowd was so excited to hear hits like “That Day Will Come” and “Jah Jah City”, that they jumped all over the place so hard it got the floor shaking.

More fire!

After performing One-Drop songs such as “Steep Mountain” and “Same Old Story”, he managed to make us rock even more with a segment called “Energy. He first sang the classic “Fire” on the “Martial Arts Riddim”.

Then, he performed a medley on the “Stepz Riddim”, followed by big tunes like “Who Dem” on the “Bellyas Riddim” and “Hunt Yuh” on the “Hurricane Riddim”. As he solicited to the audience to follow his moves, he warned us several times during the concert that “if you nah have nuh energy, you cyaah follow this”.

After the Dancehall “Energy” segment, he slowed down the pace a little performing the weed anthem “Ganja” and the Reggae tracks “Baby Don’t Cry No More”, “Africa, My Place” and “Jah Protect Us”. To wrap up the show, he performed the 2014 hit song “Rock Stone” (featuring Stephen Marley and Sizzla).

After the show, I have talked to a few people whom had seen him live before and they told me that this was probably one of his best shows ever. If you have the opportunity to attend one of his shows, do not hesitate and book your tickets right away. You won’t regret it. This was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Not only Capleton and his band were amazing but the crowd was also very responsive. It was all about respect, love, Rastafari and of course MORE FIRE. [Props to Mediacom for organizing such a nice event.]
