HEART MUSIC EP @MACKEEHAN @VPALMUSIC @FRANKIEMUSIC

VPAL MUSIC AND FRANKIE MUSIC HAVE JOINED FORCES TO BRING YOU THE LATEST FROM A JAMAICAN REGGAE ARTIST WHO GOES BY THE NAME MACKEEHAN, AND THE EP IS ENTITLED HEART MUSIC. AN APPROPRIATE TITLE CONSIDERING THE LYRICAL, AND MUSICAL MASTERPIECES CONTAINED WITHIN THIS CRUCIAL EP.

To start things off, we begin with ALL PRAISE, a Frankie Music production that is reminiscent of a booming UK dub, a Steppers dub. Then Mackeehan comes in and rides the riddim like the professional that he is, and to this selector, finally somebody who can orate on top of such a complex, driving beat. Mackeehan does it well and serves as a good example of what a singer \ dj can do to riddim like this.

Jah Army is next, the title track of another Frankie Music production the JAH ARMY RIDDIM. Music composed and performed by RAGING FYAH, the Jah Army was first released with the single JAH GLORY from RAGING FYAH, and then the entire riddim was released and just as he said, Mackeehan is “THERE UP FRONT” Marching onto victory with the crucial Title track JAH ARMY. The Riddim also includes CHEVAUGHN – MEMORIES FELUKE – SOUL ALIVE LUTAN FYAH – JUST ANOTHER SPLIFF MACKEEHAN – JAH ARMY RAGING FYAH – JAH GLORY AND TORCH – GET UP, STAND UP.

There must be a balance, and Ladies, the 3rd track on the HEART MUSIC EP is all yours. Mackeehan delivers a crucial and honest track that lets every one of you know, he would “MISS YOU BAD” and I can only imagine what the world would be like if we didn’t have any women on the earth. Not exactly what I think Mackeehan had in mind when he wrote this song, I do know If there weren’t any ladies in the world i’d be missing you badly as well !

The ROAD ELF is up next, with MOVE (DEM TIME YAH) imploring JAH to “Protect my head” in these times SO DREAD. This selection shows the versatility of the artiste, and this rapid fire delivery can certainly MOVE like a fire brigade. A perfect cominbation of riddim x vocalist. This is a great example of what reggae music sounds like in 2016.

The HOMEWRECKER Riddim, is where Mr Mackeehan speaks out to the SHINE EYED GIRL (‘s) and wants to know Why can’t you settle with me? In this cold world, I can’t blame the breadah, persistence is to try, and its about all a brother can do when it comes to someone who just wont settle down, with her Shine eyed self. One can only hope that one day she will either come to her senses and realize that the real man she is searching for has been right beside her the whole time, OR some other lady will come along and take him away because you were to shine eyed to see that what you had been searching for has been beside you the whole time.

Romain Marshall, of Tarrus Riley fame, and Sean Alot receive production credits as well, by bringing the Heart Music EP the touching love ballad YOUR THE ONE. Mackeehan certainly knows how to write a love song, having been the writer of many reggae hits for JAH CURE, ETANA, and many more this artise is no stranger to the love song genre and kills it on this great reggae arrangement, I’d like to hear some additional artistes on this one.

All good releases include a “BONUS TRACK” and in my opinion, that is the single “MY WAY” by Mackheean Featuring CHEVAUGHN and i emphasize the use of the word BONUS! Its like an entire ep on its own ! This inspiring, anthem is a musical masterpiece. With elements of dub, reggae, even some modern trap elements (ie: the high hat patterns) i can’t say enough about this one. It reminds me of a reggae opera “The Road The Road The Road” in that deep baritone voice with the Falsetto beside it creates an amazing contrast not to mention the effect that Frankie puts on the vocals that creates this mystical sound that you have to hear to really apprecilove.

So with out further delay, Go online and get yourself a copy of this crucial selection by Mackeehan called HEART MUSIC , and for the price of a big chipotle buritto, you can get yourself a piece of timelessness, righteous reggae music for your heart and soul, consider it THERAPY.

Mackeehan is a promising young artiste who is no amateur in the music business. He is a proud product of the ‘Gully Side, Cassava Piece where his musical journey began as a child, playing drums at church. While a student at The Edna ManleyCollege, he was also a finalist in the 2006 Jamaica Popular Song competition, performing his original song ‘Rise Up’ which is played every morning on Roots FM as the intro track for their morning program of the same name. To date, Mackeehan has a number of notable achievements under his belt, as he is being slowly, but surely being recognized as a profilic song writer, penning songs for a number of Jamaica’s greatest artistes; these include C Sharp (‘What’s the matter with the world’ on Kurt Riley’s Golden Gate Riddim), Duane Stephenson, Nesebeth, Jah Cure (‘Freedom’ his first post release single), Luciano (‘No Evil’ on his current album ‘Jah is My Navigator’) and Etana, co-writing along with Sherieta Lewis, her latest hit, ‘Warrior Love’. A number of his own songs are currently on the airwaves as far as Europe and, such as ‘Try’, and ‘Stand Tall’ on the General Riddim (produced by FatEyes). For the past year, Mackeehan has been traveling and performing throughout the Caribbean with Duane Stephenson, one of Jamaica’s newest sensations (hits such as ‘August Town’, ‘Cottage In Negril’, and writer of Jah Cure’s ‘True Reflections’). Mackeehan’s greatest desire is to inspire and encourage people in difficult situations to seek the best out of life, in spite of hindrances.
