This spring: I Grade Records in collaboration with Busspipe Records present “The Sound”, Pressure Busspipe’s 4th Reggae album
Rise Today is the first tune on the album and it kicks it off with an acoustic tune with excellent lyrics. The song waits until past halfway for the drums to drop and it becomes a little more complex, giving a more full feel. Following this tune, we have Show LOVE, which is a beautiful piece showcasing a great layering of multiple guitars and Pressure‘s superb vocals as he asks us to show love. The tune includes a stunning melodica solo giving it a classic vibe. The next tune, Virgin Islands Nice is a serenade about the V.I. It shows how Pressure really loves where he comes from. After this, Lutan Fyah joins in with Pressure to Stop This Train. With both of these Kings setting the lyrics straight and such beautiful horns in this tune you can’t go wrong. A huge roots riddim drops next, with Pressure coming with nothing less than expected – top notch vocals once again in Stand Firm. You can’t go wrong with the next tune either, with Niyorah and Batch alongside Pressure, which is a Virgin Islands combination over a funky beat with horns. The way they toss the verses back and forth between all three of them is something to be heard. Pressure makes sure to ask the listener to ask who you are, in this big tune titled Who You Are.
Bass and horns christen the next track as Pressure sings a powerful chorus “While dem a play, the rastaman serious about it” in the eighth track Serious About It. The next tune is a ganja man anthem titled Herbsman Town featuring artist Volcano. The hook drops “No cigarette smoking inna herbsman town, deadas cyaan cook down inna herbsman town. Just the high grade alone. Ah just the Ital pon the tree stalk.” In the tenth tune Run Away, Pressure sings a great chorus reminding us we cannot run away from ourselves, and that we will reap that which we sow. Next we have The Rain which is a calm tune. Following this is Nothing No Wrong with Midnite. This song is another Virgin Island combination and still great. The thirteenth tune, Hail the King of Kings is a royal tune glorifying the King, Jah Rastafari Haile Selassie I. The final tune with the album title The Sound is an acoustic serenade as well with a subtle electric guitar in the end. Pressure soothes the track with his unique voice and concludes what was nothing short of an amazing album.
Excellent production, lyrics, musical instruments, and guest artists on an album that stimulates the mind, body, and soul. Superb work here. The album cover also is a beautiful piece of art depicting Pressure holding a meditation with Haile Selassie I and Empress Menen painted by Sil Cunningham. Keep up the works Pressure Busspipe!
