Ras Ijah Eternalfyah unveils debut album “Hail Ras Tafari” produced by Golcup Records
I really full-joy this album and I hope you do too, as Ras Ijah asks us to in the introduction. The album starts off with a big tune titled “Lift Up My Head“. This sound has a simple but huge bassline, which helps the chorus resonate with Ijah‘s royal voice:
“I lift up my head from whence cometh help, and I give Jah Jah thanks and praise…”
Khari Kill joins in with Ras Ijah on the next tune, “Pharaoh Judgement” that you may have heard off the “Lola Riddim“. In this tune Khari and Ijah sing a song asking Pharaoh to set our people free from mental, spiritual, and physical slavery. The album continues with the blazing hot sound with “Dem Smiling Face“. This song warns us to look out for backstabbers who smile in our faces daily, and is very relevant in today’s day and age with lyrics like:
“Dutty meditation haffi get some cleanser, cyaan enter Zion if you is a back biter”
The sounds of Iya Ingi bless the next track as he asks this important question in the chorus “Who’s gonna take the blame, for all of these bloodstain?” in “Take the Blame“. The melodica, Ras Ijah, and Iya Ingi stain up this track and make for a beautiful combination.
“Dem ah kill from season to season. Iya Inga, Ras Ijah, ask dem what’s di reason.”
In the next tune “See Dem“, Ras Ijah sings about the changing world and shows us to “See Dem” from afar, reminding us that King Selassie I the First is in full control. Get your chalice ready, this next song is a huge herbalist tune titled “Lambsbread“. This tune mixes a new style with an old roots style and makes it work, somehow amazingly, with this futuristic sound. Don’t forget to pack “One More Load“ as Bushman brings a beautiful voice to this next tune, also another ganja anthem. Qshan Deya’ joins in on the next tune, titled “Brighter Day“. This tune is a really beautiful song and helps me remember that brighter days must come. “Stepping Stone” follows this with a royal sound, showcasing Ras Ijah‘s flow and singing in the same tune. This song is powerful and profound with some top-notch lyrics Ras Ijah has an amazing sound, as he comes correct in this tune. He sings:
“See that stumbling block you leave in front of my home, Rastafari ah go turn it in to my stepping stone.”
I could quote this whole tune but its best you just give it a listen. “Ancient Land” is the next track, produced by Humble Camp Rec. This is a tune blessing up the motherland with a huge bassline and excellent horns. Following this song, on the same riddim as “Brighter Day“, a different twist is added as Aima Moses brings his nice vibes to the riddim with Ras Ijah in “Water for Africa“.
Coming next, titled with the album, is “Hail Ras Tafari“. A giant tune reminding us to hail the true King, and not the God up in the sky. Words of wisdom in this day of confusion. With a big bassline and horns to match, this sound make sure Ras Ijah‘s voice is heard.
Following this is another sensi selection titled “Kush Marijuana“produced by Frost Beatz in the Bahamas. This is an irie tune which showcases a different style of Ras Ijah‘s singing and it really has a great feel to it, bigging up the herbs the entire time, you can’t go wrong with this tune.
“Rise” with Messenjah Selah is on next, a giant collaboration with an uplifting message helping I to rise from evil so justice and peace can reign. M-Selah comes with conscious vibes as usual:
“Evil must eradicate if we want to elevate”
This is a jamming tune and keeps album coming strong and readies your ears for “Praise & Honor” produced again by Frost Beatz. This tune is one of my favorites on the album, as Ras Ijah shows us the Eternal Fyah in many forms. Huge verses, great singing, and most of all, FYAH!
Jah Nyne joins in on the next tune titled “Peace & Love“. This song brings a positive message, demanding war fi cease over an upful and positive riddim.
The album concludes with “Tumbling Down” featuring artists Jah Humbly and Konfidence Lion. A great sound from both of these two as well as Eternalfyah on this tune with a simplistic yet deep riddim with a powerful sound. The association of all three of their vocals makes a great combination over the same riddim that the album starts off with in “Lift Up My Head“.
I really enjoy the different tunes over the same riddims on the album, which can be seen in multiple instances over this album with excellent production almost completely by Goldcup Records. In this album it is evident that the time was taken to produce and finalize an excellent work of music to bless the world and assure that you remember Ras Ijah‘s name.
