Soulmedic “Fyah Forward” Album Review

Soulmedic sends a call for conscious social upliftment in his new album “Fyah Forward”

Today, I have the pleasure to present to you Soulmedic’s brand-new album: “Fyah Forward”, released on May 12th, 2015.To be honest with you, I first thought that Soulmedic‘s voice was not so special. It was just another album by another Reggae artist but I kept on listening. I discovered that the natural grain of his voice was revealed as he explored the lower tones of his vocal range. That actually made it more unique than I thought. In songs like “Hungry” and “Soulmate”, I wondered if it was the same artist. I was amazingly surprised by the richness and the depth of his voice and he hit the low keys.As far as the album is concerned, it was produced by Jah Kebra Music and is mostly roots-oriented. Nevertheless, “Fyah Forward” includes a couple of Reggae/Hip Hop crossover tracks, in which Soulmedic showcases his talents at deejaying and rapping alongside rapper Gratitude. All songs are very well produced. None of the songs sound overly computerized like we could sometimes hear nowadays.In this album, I’ve heard some lyrical prowesses. Soulmedc sings about various topics such as his credo in the Rastafarian faith (“Crown Me”), his love for his girl (“My Number 1 Girl”), social issues (“Know Your Code” featuring Pressure Busspipe) and even sound clash (“Five Star General”). We can also note a sense of humor when he tells haters to “Go take a number and wait in line.” in the track “Take A Number”. Overall, “Fyah Forward” is a pleasant 1-hour Reggae album to listen to. You might not get into it before the second or third track.
