With the fast-growing technology development and constantly changing trends, music genres evolve. Many styles appear and many genres disappear or totally grow apart from its roots (i.e. R’n’B, Hip Hop) or substantially lack of musical ingenuity.
Reggae music is also concerned. Since the beginning, musicians have come up with new styles of rhythms (i.e. Rockers, Stepper,…) and producers have developed new mixing techniques (i.e. Dub), or fused it with other genres and styles of music in order to enhance it and/or reach audience.
However, Reggae music is also one of the rare genres of music, which has not grown apart too far from its Roots. Today, Roots Reggae music still exists in a form, which is similar and comparable to what it sounded like 30 years ago, despite it’s diversification. Notis Records refers to this phenomenon as musical crossroads.
