“Diseases Riddim,” produced by Massive B in 1996
Since the late 60’s, many versions of the the “Mad Mad / Diseases Riddim,” inspired by a Studio One riddim, have been released. Below, we have listed some of these versions, and gathered a couple tracks for you.
The 1967 Studio One’s version
In 1967, Alton Ellis voiced the song “Mad Mad Mad” on the “Mad Mad Riddim,” produced by Clement ‘Coxsone’ Dodd for Studio One.
The 1981 Junjo’s version
During the 80’s, Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes produced a version of this riddim, on which Michigan & Smiley voiced the song “Diseases” in 1981, and YellowMan released the hit tune “Zunguzunguzeng” in 1983.
The 1994 Digital B’s version
In 1994, Bobby Digital released a Digital Reggae version of the “Diseases Riddim,” featuring Cutty Ranks, Jack Radics, and more.
The 1996 Massive B’s version
Massive B‘s version is quite similar to the original, except that it’s much faster, and features mostly Dancehall’s tracks.
