Kahpun is one of the acts we need to be paying attention to. He’s Ghanaian and he feels like he spent half his life in Jamaica. “Samuel Ampah” as he was born is a talent that cannot be denied. Hes a student of life and music. He has this impeccable way or knack of marrying himself to just about any Dancehall and Reggae beat. Now if that doesn’t make him special then we need a wake up call. The mother land is producing stars. Growing up he had influences like Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Buju Banton. He’s big on Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Mighty Diamonds. Like any young act he also has a lot of Hip Hop influences like DMX, Jay Z, Kanye West and others. What is sure is hes making his mark, with his sound.
“Hello Badmind” one of the singles thats in rotation. His debut album “The Dice” will be out this year. Take note the title of the album gives us insight as to who this young man is. The anonolgy of rolling the dice. He’s one that is taking the chance on his career and where he wants to go. The single speaks of life. The ups and downs. Him reciprocating love. He speaks of beating the odds and making it via his integrity.
