We’re sharing with you various weed songs for this #FlashbackFriday #TGIF
Thanks God it’s Friday, let’s kick back and relax to some good Reggae music. If you had quite a rough week at work, this #FlashBackFriday, we invite you to chill to these smooth weed songs.
JACOB MILLER – HEALING OF THE NATION
Released in 1978, this song is probably one of the realest song concerning the issue of the legalization of the herb. Jacob Miller doesn’t hesitate to go as far as denouncing the fact that the government allows the use of certain substances, which are proven to be harmful for the health, just because they can make profit off of it.
“You nuh fight against de rum head. Yuh nuh fight against de wine head. Yuh nuh fight against the cigarette smoking. Yet you know, yet you know these things give cancer.”
PROTOJE – THIS IS NOT A MARIJUANA SONG
In the song “This is not a Marijuana song” released in 2012, Protoje somehow raises the same issue as Jacob Miller. The first line of the chorus says it all: “They don’t want you to know Marijuana”.
GYPTIAN – SENSI
Featured on his sophomore album “I Can Feel Your Pain”, released in 2008, Gyptian relates how he was about to be arrested for being in possession of marijuana. He sings: “All over me, di babylon dem all over me, dem nuh wah me fi bun a sensi fi medi.”
CHRONIXX – PERFECT TREE
Featured on “The Cultivator Riddim” produced by Royal Order Music, “Perfect Tree” is a soothing song in which Chronixx claims his love for weed that cannot fade away no matter what people say.

CHUCK FENDA – ALL ABOUT THE WEED
Featured on the “Truth & Rights Riddim”, released in 2005, Chuck Fenda sings“All About The Weed”. “It’s all about the weed. How do you love the weed. Oh gwaan farma man come plant the seed. It’s good for the nerves, it’s got to preserve. Chat a song and send the heathen to the curbs”.
T.O.K. – MARIJUANA
Also released in 2005, on the “Istanbul Riddim”, “Marijuana” by T.O.K. is a song about their love for the herb aka the healing of the nation. “Marijuana is all that I need so don’t kill the breed.”
THE MIGHTY DIAMONDS – PASS THE KUTCHIE
Last but not least, “Pass The Kouchie” is a quite upful herb song made famous by The Might Diamonds in 1984. The song that was later covered by the Musical Youth, could be described as a sort of illustration of how much smoking herb can be a good way to socialize with people. “Pass the kouchie pon di left hand side, pass di kouchie pon di lef hand side, it a go bun.”

There are plenty other songs about the herb that I couldn’t share with you in this post. In some of them the artist simply declare his love for the weed, others are more consciously-aware such as “Healing of the nation”. Anyway, it’s always quite relaxing to listen to these songs. If your favorite weed song is not listed above, do not hesitate to post a comment below to tell us what herb song you love the most. Share and comment if you like it.
