The Heatwave collaborates with Ding Dong to produce “London City”
Uk-based sound system The Heatwave has joined forces with Dancehall deejay Ding Dong to produce the single “London City”.
On a Modern Dancehall beat, the former Jamaican dancer sings about the emigrated yardies. Even though this tune sounds like a club banger, it is actually a socially-charged track. Don’t let the heavy bass and synths fool you.
“Yard man, yard man, deh ya with a yard plan. Nah go back fi plant yam.”
Ding Dong depicts how the economical issues that reign in Jamaica has led to the diaspora of people looking for better opportunities elsewhere like in the UK.
If you make a bag of money, you fi send it in. Uplift your community, a you fi set the scheme.”
